During home visits especially, we often identify parents who are struggling. This is no surprise as children are often a mirror for what's happening in other part of their lives, so we know if there's a child in struggle, there's a strong chance their parents might also be struggling.
For us here at Enterprising Youth, identifying what wellbeing support parents have in place is a really important action. We know that if parents are well supported this will have positive impact upon their family life, they will be better equipped to support their children.

A lack of support for parents is a real problem. It adds to the stress and difficulty in effectively supporting young people.
Our caseload includes young people on CIN/CP and yet most parents we speak with (who are in struggle), share that they have limited access to support, this includes mental health support.
Most parents say they have someone in their family / a close friend, they speak to (who they often then go on to say they don't want to overburden with their problems), or their GP (who many say can be hard to get an appointment with, and onward referrals can take a long while).
